Changing Diabetes Barometer Forum
On April 4, 2008, Rome hosted the first Italian Changing Diabetes Barometer Forum, the first Italian forum on diabetes promoted by the International Diabetes Federation, in cooperation with Novo Nordisk.
The Changing Diabetes Barometer Forum aimed at contributing to set priorities and targets for the national diabetes action plans, and was the Italian response to the Global Forum, held in New York, March 2007, where 21 countries made the commitment to take concrete action to check this silent pandemic.
The Barometer Forum saw the participation of national and local institutions, national and international Scientific Societies, patient associations and the media. The Forum enabled the stakeholders of the diabetes community to exchange ideas and experience on the social, economic, and political aspects of this pandemic, and lay the foundation for the creation of a diabetes measuring system able to concretely contribute to the prevention and treatment of the disease, as well as improve the lifestyle and quality of life of people with diabetes.
The event, organized synergically with Italian and international scientific societies, also received the patronage of the Italian Senate of the Republic and Ministry of Health.
